After assigning a truck to a driver they will not take their first delivery until you take one . After that though they will drive and rest without supervision. Your only input is to manage their specialities with ADR and Long Distance generating the best return so should be the first focus at least to level 3. It is useful to train the drivers in ADR skills (at least one ADR skill) early in the game as those jobs pay double the base rate. Then train them in long distance for at least one skill point. Even if you have 5 drivers, and 5 curtains, there is no guaruntee they will take the trailer at all. Hired drivers take a cargo, if you have a free trailer that would normally haul that cargo then they may take that trailer. #2. no because it's unrealistic to change truck during a job. logical options for different situations are the following: 1. if you destroy your truck, you have always the possibility to call for assistance, 2. if you damage it partially you can always stop to a service to repair it. The difference between you and your drivers chance to find a job is: When you have complted a job, you are not forced to only take jobs that will return to your home town, that gives you many jobs to choose between.
